Obamacare Is Ultimately Not About Healthcare
Like so many other policies of leftists, Obamacare is about achieving wealth redistribution. It is a giant leap towards a welfare state or socialism.
The main problem of healthcare is that the cost of healthcare is too high. And many people cannot afford health insurance due to either being poor or pre-existing conditions. And so Obamacare first requires health insurance companies to provide insurance coverage to sick people with pre-existing conditions. This is like forcing companies to sell fire insurance to people whose house is currently on fire. This will cost the insurance companies a lot of money to pay for the medical treatment of all these people. To make up for these costs, the insurance company will have to increase the premiums of all of their policies. This is wealth redistribution. In addition this law will conscript, or recruit by force, healthy individuals to buy health insurance. This is fund the health insurance companies so that they can treat those sick people. This is like if environmental regulations drive up the cost of a car, the federal government requiring urban pedestrians to buy a car to drive down the cost of the car. And so forcing non-consumers to become consumers spends their money. And the government is directing and channeling where the non-consumer's money should go towards; those who need money for treatment. This is wealth redistribution.
Obama's newly appointed Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, Donald Berwick, says in this video clip of a speech given in Britain that "Any healthcare funding plan that is just equitable and humane, must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent healthcare is by definition redistributional."
Dr. Donald Berwick is a doctor from Harvard and a colleague of President Obama. He loves the British single payer system, does not believe in capitalist forces and is a socialist at least in terms of healthcare, seeks the leftist doctrine of equality of result for both wealth and healthcare, and accepts and welcomes how the single payer system will require rationing.
For Obama, this healthcare law is the ultimate backstage pass, allowing him and his leftist administration to shape and create a forced economic equality. This is his true purpose of this bill and his presidency, to leave a permanent device that will work to achieve this forced equality.
President Ronald Reagan spoke about nationalizing healthcare back in a speech from 1961.
He warned that history tells us that one of the most common ways to introduce socialist elements into the US would be in the guise of a benevolent law through medicine.
How prophetic and chillingly accurate.
In fact Obamacare in essence nationalizes 17% of the US economy and makes the federal government in command of the healthcare industry. This is changing the very fabric of America's core so that we resemble European nations. America has possibly changed forever to resemble any other European nation, not a unique nation in the people and their market forces and choices being in charge.
Leftists' greatest goal is wealth and income redistribution. And so this is why the leftist Democrat Party spokesperson Nancy Pelosi says they would have gone through with Obamacare even if Americans were happy with their healthcare because they didn't think it was sustainable.
Right before the final House vote that made Obamacare virtually a law, the Wall Street Journal gave the finest and most devastating closing argument on why Obamacare is bad for our country in this magnificent editorial. It says:
This law is about what kind of nation we want to be, this is not just about the politics of the bill passage which has been atrocious.
This law will be destructive for the healthcare industry and the American economy.
This law will fundamentally alter the relation between doctor and patient.
In the end, there are only two ways to allocate a good or service: either through a set price and the choices by millions of consumers, or through central government planning and political discretion.
The answer to this choice will answer the questions of who will command the country's medical resources: the people and market forces or the government.
Obamacare will expand government like never before.
In the end, all bureaucratic system will run short and will ration and restrict the resources.
This will also stifle innovations in technology and pharmaceuticals that could save lives.
Ultimately, a vote for Obamacare is a vote against the vitality of American capitalism. A vote for Obamacare is a giant move towards an entitlement or welfare state.
